The Pittsburgh Steelers (7-2) notched their seventh win of the season in Week 10. The Steelers took down the Washington Commanders 28-27 for their fourth consecutive win.
Jayden Daniels and the Commanders (7-3) squandered a 24-14 lead as Mike Tomlin improved to 26-6 when facing a rookie QB. The No. 2 overall pick finished 17 of 34 for 202 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He also had the worst rushing output of his rookie campaign, finishing with a meager 5 yards on three carries.
After the win, Tomlin was asked about the similarities between Daniels and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
"Man, be real slow comparing people to Lamar Jackson," Tomlin said. "That’s a multi-time MVP. That’s Mr. Jackson. We’ll see Mr. Jackson in a few days."
In recent NFL history, quarterbacks have entered the league and made an immediate impact in the running game. This generation of signal-callers has redefined the position and the expectations. Jackson is the reigning MVP and is the current odds-on favorite to win the award for the third time in his career in 2024. Jackson also won MVP honors in 2019.

Last season, Jackson led the Ravens to the best record in the NFL at 13-4. Since the start of last season, Jackson has had Baltimore alongside the Kansas City Chiefs as the two top teams in the AFC.
Daniels has displayed his dual-threat abilities throughout the first half of his rookie campaign. The 2024 No. 2 overall pick has rushed for 464 yards in the first 10 games of his NFL career, which puts him on pace for 788 rushing yards this season. If he keeps that up, he'll surpass Jackson's 695 rushing yards during his rookie season. He also has the Commanders in a position to contend for a playoff spot in the NFC, something they haven't accomplished since 2020.
Pittsburgh leads the AFC North heading into its Week 11 meeting at home against the Baltimore Ravens (7-3). Tomlin is one of the few coaches who have succeeded against Jackson. He has a 4-2 record facing the two-time MVP. The Steelers are 10-2 during their past 12 regular-season games.
