Kallie Wright is opening up about a haunting moment.
Following the death of her and rodeo star Spencer Wright's 3-year-old Levi Wright, Kallie is detailing the events leading up to Levi's May 21 accident—which saw him and his toy tractor get swept into a river—in a heartbreaking message.
"Unless you've been to my place it's hard to paint a picture of how something like this can happen," she shared in a June 6 Facebook post. "There is a creek that runs through our 24 acre property and separates our house from Grandma and Grandpa's, through that creek is a road made of concrete. It's how we've gotten to their house safely most days."
Kallie—who is also mom to daughter Steeley, 5, and son Brae, 9 months, with Spencer—further explained her kids have often ridden their bikes or ride on toys, or even walked, across the creek and that the road only has water "for a short time during the year and can change over night." She included a video of her family crossing the area via horseback as an example.
Kallie wrote that on the day of his accident, "Levi did not do anything he hasn't done before," but that on this particular day the water was strong enough to push his tractor off the stretch of road.
"He asked me to ride his tractor and I explained that grandma wasn't home, he shouldn't drive through the creek or the road and just to ride around the house," Kallie explained. "As he drove off, I ran back in the house. That's a decision that will haunt me for the rest of my life. In that moment he was my responsibility alone."
But while Kallie admitted "I will lose sleep over this for eternity," she also had a reminder—for both herself and those who might judge her.
"I know 3 things to be true," she wrote, adding, "1. I am not a perfect mom but I am a good mom. 2. My little boy loved me with all he had. 3. Never say never because it only takes seconds and it can happen to you too. I pray anyone who judges me or has hurtful words to say never finds themself on the receiving end of a nightmare like this."
Since her son's accident, Kallie has shared many updates with the world—including her and Spencer's heartbreaking decision to remove Levi from life support, despite the family's hopes Levi was on the path to recovery after he woke up from his coma.
"After several sleepless nights, lots of research, multiple conversations with the world's best neurologists & millions of prayers we are here in the face of our biggest fear," she wrote in a June 2 Facebook post. "Levi showed us just enough to buy us time for all of this."
She continued, "We prayed those things were him defying odds & proving to us that he wanted to stay here, but we see now he wanted to give us time to find peace with letting him go. I told you my baby was thoughtful & considerate, I truly believe he did that for us."
And as she prepared to say goodbye, Kallie noted the comfort she felt in knowing he'd no longer be suffering.
"I find comfort in knowing he will be restored to the perfect little boy he was & have the ability to do all the things he loves," she wrote. "I know there are Angels up there waiting to hold him until I can again! We will miss him every second of every day down here but feel without unwavering doubt this is the best thing we can do for him! We love you baby beans and I can't wait till the day you can 'work the ground' with me again!"
Levi passed away later that same day, family friend Mindy Sue Clark confirmed. "I cannot even begin to explain how hard the last two weeks have been," she wrote in a June 3 Facebook post. "From the moment my phone rang the night of his accident, to last night receiving the message that he had to go."
"I am so thankful for all the time I got to be his ‘aunt Mindy,'" she continued. "That is a blessing I will never be able to top."
